Some helpful hints to improve your KnightFighting experience.
Starting with the tips from the guild page:
#1 Go for missions for 10 minutes While there is a chance you will get no reward from a 10 minute mission, this chance is very small and the rewards for 10 minute missions are the same as for longer missions otherwise. Also use up all your mission time every day, mission time unspend is gold and xp unearned!
#2. Be activeThis overlaps a bit with tip #1, you can't gain anything by not playing, the more time you put into KF the more fun it will be.
#3 The Loot List - use it! Love it! The loot list shows who's dropping gold. These are folk you want to attack. Please return the favor and add to the list!
#4 DON'T CARRY COIN!! Don't end up on someone else's loot list. Spend you coin on stats or buy stuff from the merchant - you can sell it later for half price. Sure you will lose some coin, but better to lose coin than end up on someone's loot list.
#5 Sharpen your weapon If you can afford a jewel ticket, or win one, you can sharpen your weapon - this will increase your max damage by +1, you can sharpen your weapon 3 times for a total increase of +3 to your max damage.

I guess this should be listed as helpful hint #0 . . . 
Always remember to go on a tavern mission when you're gonna be away from the computer for a while - I forgot and just lost out on a thousand or so coin!
